Welcome to Graven Hill Community Garden
Graven Hill Community Garden is a new community-powered project bringing together residents of all ages to grow, learn, and thrive. Based at Graven Hill Primary School in Bicester, the garden is open to the whole community and is designed to be an inclusive space for connection, education, and wellbeing.
Together, we're creating a vibrant outdoor space where everyone — from preschool children to retirees — can get their hands dirty, and enjoy the rewards of growing and learning together.
Our garden site
Graven Hill is a new community — until now, we’ve had no shared space where people could come together. Our community centre is still years away, and many of us felt a strong need for a place where we could meet, work side by side, and build something real. We also firmly believe in the benefits of being outdoors, learning and working together.
That’s how the idea for a community garden was born.
We were delighted when Matt Green, headteacher at Graven Hill Primary School, offered us this huge strip of land next to the school’s sports pitches to turn into a garden for the community.
A small group of residents made a plan. We reached out to the building companies on site — and were thrilled when DGK, who are constructing many of the homes in Graven Hill, stepped up to help us bring this project to life. They are helping us level the entire site and build the first two zones of the garden. We are very grateful for their support.
