Graven Hill’s growing community spirit was on full display this week as Callum Miller, MP for Bicester and Woodstock, visited the site of the new Graven Hill Community Garden. He met with one of the project's founders, Claires and Headteacher Matt Green to hear how the project is developing and to see the early results of months of hard work.
The MP’s visit marks an important moment for the project, which has become a real example of what can be achieved when a whole community pulls together. The garden — located beside Graven Hill Primary School — is being built through a close collaboration between local volunteers, project organisers, school staff, and several local developers, all of whom have contributed materials, labour, or expertise to help turn an unused strip of land into the community’s first shared green space.
During the visit, Callum Miller praised the commitment shown by residents and highlighted how projects like this strengthen community wellbeing, create learning opportunities for children, and offer welcoming spaces for people of all ages.
The Community Garden team said they were delighted to show the MP around the site and share plans for the next stages of development, including accessible paths, sensory planting, and a future polytunnel for all-weather growing and outdoor learning.
With the support of the school, volunteers, local partners and now their local MP, the Graven Hill Community Garden continues to grow — both in size and in significance for the whole neighbourhood.
