November 2025
It’s been a busy month at the Graven Hill Community Garden, with significant progress made on the main groundwork phase. Our landscaping team has been on site each week, using machinery to level large sections of the garden, prepare the paths, and begin shaping the growing beds. Despite some challenging autumn weather, a huge amount has already been achieved.
The next steps involve bringing in a final layer of clean hardcore to stabilise the paths and seating areas before the top surface can be laid. We are currently working with local suppliers to secure this material, and once delivered, the team will return to complete the levelling, bed excavation and finishing touches across the vegetable plot, polytunnel area and wider garden.
Volunteers will soon step in to help with edging the paths and moving soil into the new beds so we can begin planting fruit trees and other larger plants. Accessibility remains a priority, and the garden layout is being shaped to ensure smooth, usable routes for wheelbarrows, mobility aids and little feet alike.
As always, this project is only possible thanks to the combined effort of local volunteers, the school, our project leads and supportive developers.
If you’d like to get involved, we always welcome a new pair of hands — no experience needed. Come and help us bring the next phase of the garden to life!
